¨: Educate your children about not sharing personal information
¨Emphasize the importance of NOT making a lot of online acquaintances and talking with them about sex.
¨Be reasonable
–Don’t pull the plug on the computer!
¨Be open with your children and encourage them to come to you when they come across a problem
–Remember laws, rules, hardware, and software cannot replace YOU as the first line of defense.
¨Encourage Internet access take place in a central area of the home
¨Encourage your kids to share e-mail, instant messages, and online profiles with you.
¨CREATE A SAFETY PLEDGE FOR PARENTS AND ALL CHILDREN TO SIGN. (Place on all computers within household that children have access to.)
